MANAGING DIRECTOR OF DAILY HAMBASTEGI APPEARS BEFORE COURT TEHRAN TIMES POLITICAL DESK TEHRAN The Secretary General of the Islamic Revolution Mojahedin Organization Mohammad Salamati, who has claimed conservatives are trying to impeach President Mohammad Khatami attended court Wednesday to answer questions about the allegation. Salamati, who heads the review Asr-e Ma (our era), refused to answer questions on his way out of the session but his lawyer said he hoped the case was finished. The court was expected to issue a ruling within a week. Salamati charged earlier this month that conservatives were trying to impeach the president. In the meantime Managing Director of daily Hambastegi Qholam-Heydar Ebrahim-Bai Salami on Wednesday appeared before Branch 1410 of the Judiciary complex in charge of investigating the offenses committed by civil servants. He was interrogated by the court Head Judge Saeed Mortazavi. Upon leaving the court, Ebrahim-Bai Salami told IRNA that the Law Enforcement Forces (LEF), daily Kayhan and a person named Komeil Kaveh are the plaintiffs in his case. Ebrahim-Bai Salami said he had asked the court to give him enough time to study the complaints and prepare his defense.
